Unvoice is a utility that transcribes your Voice Messages to text. Whenever you receive a Voice Message and cannot (or do not want to) listen to it, you can hand it over to Unvoice and it gets transcribed.
Just select a Voice Message you received in a messaging app and share it with Unvoice. The Unvoice extension then handles the transcription. You can even save your transcriptions so that you have a written transcript of your Voice Messages.
And since we use the built in Speech Recognition feature of iOS, your Voice Messages are handled securely and privately. Your Voice Messages are not processed otherwise by us by any means and your transcriptions do not leave your device!
In your favorite Messaging App, select a Voice Message you want to transcribe.
Selection is often enabled by long-pressing and clicking on "More" or "Forward".
If all went well, you get a checkmark next to the message and have the option to share it.
In the iOS Share Sheet, tap on the icon to share it with Unvoice.
Sometimes you have to enable the extension by clicking the „More“ button and then flipping the switch next to „Unvoice“.
Your Voice Message gets transcribed and you can see the results immediately.
The Voice Message gets transcribed by Apple’s own Speech Recognition, built into iOS, which supports a multitude of languages and handles your messages privately and securely.
Note: Since the Message has to be sent to Apple’s servers for the transcription, you need a working connection to the Internet.
After the transcription has finished, you get the option to save it, so you can look it up later.
All your saved transcriptions are saved to the Unvoice App and can be looked up, renamed and deleted later.
The transcriptions are stored locally and never leave your device!
Unvoice does not collect any information about you, period.
We believe that your Voice Messages belong to you, and only you. It is one thing to even share messages that are meant for your eyes only. But it is quite another thing to share something even more personal like other people’s voice.
This is why we use Apple’s Speech Recognition technology, because we share Apple’s vision that your private data should stay private. Unvoice neither analyzes nor shares your Voice Messages with any other than Apple.
In order to transcribe your Voice Messages, Unvoice uses the built-in Speech Recognition feature of iOS. While some of the Speech Recognition can be done on your device, oftentimes your Voice Message needs to be sent off to Apple’s servers for the transcription.
The transmission procedure is performed completely by the iOS Speech Framework so that it is performed privately and securely. You can read more about that in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Before Voice Messages can be transcribed, they have to be converted to an audio format that Apple’s Speech Framework can process. This also happens locally on your device. The converted audio file is stored temporarily and automatically deleted by iOS.
Your transcriptions only get saved if you choose to. They are stored locally and do not leave your device.
Beyond the information Apple provides to developers that you can decide to provide, Unvoice uses no third-party analytics frameworks.
